These are the church minutes...LOL. Just kidding. I wanted to just let you know what’s going on this week so you can be with me as I go through it.
Tonight, the BET Honors come on. It was such a great show. I don't know if you know it or not, but they honored me. Guess who shocked everybody to come and present my award? Whitney Houston! Let me tell you something, she looked (and looks) amazing! I heard her sing the other night. LOOK OUT!
I'm so proud and happy for her. How much do we love Whitney?
On Thursday, I'm hosting the NAACP IMAGE AWARDS with Halle Berry. A few of our folks are nominated--Lance Gross, Keshia Knight-Pulliam, Doc Shaw, LaVan Davis, Alfre Woodard, Angela Bassett and Cassi Davis. It's going to be a fun night! The show's rundown is amazing.
Also, I wanted to thank you for watching MEET THE BROWNS on TBS. It was only a 10-episode test to see if the show would work and you made it work, so thank you for that. God bless you. TBS just ordered 70 episodes. I'm so happy for David and Tam. You are keeping folks working just by watching. So thank you!
New episodes of HOUSE OF PAYNE start Wednesday. Can I just tell you how much I appreciate you being faithful, and always finding this show? I have nothing to do with the scheduling but I wish I did. Things would be a little different. But TBS makes those decisions. But no matter what, you always seem to find it. I wonder what would happen if the new episodes were on consistently for a while? Hmmmmm.
Also, THE FAMILY THAT PREYS DVD was #1 a few weeks ago. And THE MARRIAGE COUNSELOR DVD was #8. You have no idea how much I appreciate you all being with me..... I'm glad that you all bought the DVDs. Even in this economy.
Again, you're keeping folks working at Tyler Perry Studios. And for those of you who haven't and you need a good laugh, that Palmer Williams (Floyd) in THE MARRIAGE COUNSELOR will make you hurt yourself.
February 20th is a big day. MADEA GOES TO JAIL (the movie) comes out. And listen, it was my heartfelt intention to make you hurt yo'self laughing.
So get ready. Can't we all use a good laugh right now? Well I went all out in this one just for that reason. You're going to love it!
Anyway, I'm in LA. I'm working hard to promote MADEA GOES TO JAIL. I have to tell you those pictures of Madea's mug shots...WOW! I was coming home from the gym, minding my business and was at a red light. I looked to my left and those mug shots were on the side of a bus and I almost had a wreck when I saw them. I must have lost my mind to do that.......LOL.
That is funny stupid.
Speaking of the gym, I decided that I wanted to be fit at 40. Another reason I'm in LA is to take off some weight. So I had to get out of Georgia, away from Krispy Kreme...LOL! I'm down 25 pounds and still working. I think another 10 and I'll be happy. And you know what else? In
7 months I'll be turning 40, and when I tell you I feel like I'm just beginning to come into my own, I'm beginning to hit my stride. I really want to talk about that in the next email, so remind me okay? I want to hear from all my 40 and over people. What you got to say to that? Write me on the message board.
I'm rambling and I'm sure you're working or have other things to do, so I'll let you go.
