The Neurodiagnostic Regional Manager provides technical and administrative management for technologists in EEG/Neurodiagnostics. Responsible for the oversight of clinical coordination of all Neurodiagnostic services (EEG, EMG, Evoked Potentials, etc.) for inpatient and outpatient services in defined HMH Region. Oversight of 24/7 coverage for all areas within the regional service.Unifies all technicians in a region as one team and ensures adequate coverage of services through team coverage or outside support. Has extensive knowledge and experience in Neurodiagnostics.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Neurodiagnostic Regional Manager at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

1. Oversight for all team members in the Neurodiagnostic department
Prepares team members schedules to accommodate department needs.
Assign team members to cover all modalities of neurodiagnostic testing on a daily basis for defined region.
Responsible for team member scheduling and submission of payroll. Processes vacation and leave requests and maintains accurate records of employee attendance records.
Interviews potential team members, includes relevant physician leadership in candidate evaluation, and puts forward 'request to recruit' to human resources per HMH policy.
Provides orientation to new team members.
Works collaboratively with nursing leadership of patient units to educate team members as needed.
Assists with development of employment standards for quality metrics.
Assists with development of technical guidelines.
Identifies and coordinates training and development opportunities for self, team members, and clinical staff.
Rounds with epileptologists on patients with continuous vEEG monitoring whenever possible.
Develops and maintains monthly statistics, adult and pediatrics.
Able to perform Neurodiagnostic technologist procedures to support overall division demands.
Verifies patient testing is done with accuracy; can differentiate wave characteristics between brain disorders vs background or system noise.
Verify tracings have a high degree of accuracy and tests are performed using standard protocol, and are done in order to eliminate artifacts.
Serves as a liaison between Neurology, Neurosurgery and other hospital departments.
Trouble shoots equipment issues with the appropriate vendor company.
Develops budget and makes recommendations to meet efficiency of service line.
Demonstrates competency in editing EEG tracings.
Ability to perform and mentor diagnostic procedures: vEEG, Evoked Potentials; Ambulatory EEG; EMG, and other applicable testing.
Oversight of patient billing for Neurodiagnostic Lab.
Works collaboratively with Neuroscience Director, Physician Division Director and Neuroscience Chairs for maintenance of program certifications.
Responsible for Performance Evaluations of Direct Reports and works with HR on any action items for staff development, including any necessary filing of disciplinary action.
2. Support During Seizures - Provides support to team members during a seizure episode. Review events with team members and discuss any questions or concerns.
3. Customer/Peer Relations - Works in a professional and collaborative manner with all team members and physicians in the delivery of patient care and monitoring. Displays a commitment of the value of teamwork by building strong relationships with patients, families, and team members. Cooperates and collaborates to perform duties promoting a unified and spirited workplace.
4. Departmental Protocols - Follows all department protocols. Complies with all departmental policies described in the Departmental Policy and Procedure Manual.
5. Neurodiagnostic Equipment - Maintains all neurodiagnostic equipment in good working order. Inspects for malfunctions and makes minor adjustments.
6. Continuing Education - Enhances professional growth and development through annual participation in educational programs, in-services, workshops, reading current publications on Neurophysiology testing/technology and Neurological disease, online CME through various professional organizations and manufacturers, and viewing recorded educational programs.
7. Safety and Infection Control - Practices universal precautions and follows all safety and infection control policies.
8. Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
9. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications & Requirements
Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Minimum of 8 years of EEG, EMG, or IOM lead role or supervisory experience in a modality of neurodiagnostics of at least 5 years.
2. Bachelor's of Science Degree or minimum of 10 years EEG or Sleep Technologist experience.
3. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to react quickly and calmly in emergency situations.
4. Management skills to include competency in budget, human resource management, process improvement.
5. Ability to work across multiple hospitals in a collegial manner with network and local executive leadership to meet hospital and regional goals.
6. Must remain up to date on current and new practices in Neurophysiology
7. Must obtain a minimum of 10 CEC's in Neurophysiology per year to maintain technologist certification in at least one neurodiagnostic specialty.
8. Excellent verbal and written and interpersonal skills to clearly and effectively communicate with physicians, patients, staff and stakeholders.
9. Experience interpreting, communicating and enforcing policies and procedures.
10. Strong customer service skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.



Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

1. Previous experience using the EPIC system.
2. Skilled in two modalities of Neurodiagnostics (EEG, EMG, EP, IOM, or TCD)
3. Knowledge of medical terminology.
4. Proficient in use of Microsoft or google platforms
5. Proficiency with PeopleSoft systems.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

1. American Board of Registration for Encephalographic Technologists Certification.
Preferred - Electroencephalographic (EEG)
Acceptable - Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM), Evoked Potential (EP) or Registered Nerve Conduction Study (NCS)
2. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands and Working Environment:
Exerts up to 50lbs of force occasionally and up to 25lbs to move objects.
