This position is with the Implementation Science and Engineering Lab (isel.wisc.edu), a small, interdisciplinary research group led by Dr. Andrew Quanbeck in the UW Department of Family Medicine and Community Health. ISELab's work centers on improving the adoption of proven practices in primary care, with the ultimate goal of improving the health and quality of life of patients facing addiction, chronic pain, and a range of chronic diseases.
The successful candidate will be a dynamic researcher with experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis, data organization, and project coordination. They will also have a record of working with others to initiate, operationalize, maintain, and complete complex projects.
This Researcher will work closely with Dr. Quanbeck, ISELab's administrative partners in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, key research collaborators, and stakeholders to provide operational leadership and program coordination in support of the research.

Provides research expertise to fundamental and applied scientific research and solves problems in research development and applications to support the advancement of research.
30% Collects and analyzes increasingly complex research data, conducts experiments and interviews, and documents results according to established policies and procedures
10% Conducts literature reviews, prepares reports and materials, co-authors publications, and disseminates information to appropriate entities
10% Trains individuals and groups on equipment operations, research protocols, and techniques within a specialized laboratory or research area
10% Develops and implements increasingly complex research methodologies, procedures, and criteria
10% Reviews and edits protocols to ensure accuracy, thoroughness, and consistency
10% Assists in developing grant applications and proposals to secure research funding
5% Prepares data sets for analysis including cleaning/quality assurance, transformations, restructuring, and integration of multiple data sources.
5% Implements appropriate data science techniques in collaboration with other data scientists, statisticians, and/or other researchers to find data patterns and answer research questions chosen by the lead researcher
5% Assists in the development, coordination, and facilitation of trainings and workshops for internal and external audiences to disseminate research program developments and information.
5% Serves as a lab liaison among internal and external stakeholder groups, collaborates across disciplines and functional areas, provides program information, and promotes the accomplishments and developments of scholars and research initiatives
Qualifications & Requirements
Advanced degree in STEM, health sciences or related field is preferred
- Detail-oriented experience with excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency and advanced knowledge related to working with a wide variety of digital platforms and tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in public health research, health systems research,
implementation science, or mHealth (mobile health) research environment. Substantive research conducted during graduate school may be considered.
- Experience with National Institutes of Health (NIH) reporting requirements and practices; familiarity with NIH funding mechanisms.
- Experience providing staff or student support and/or supervisory support within a multidisciplinary team is desirable.
- Experience conducting Human Subjects Research and working with Personal Health Information (PHI), Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliance frameworks, and Institutional Review Board (IRB) guidance and practices.
- One year of experience in quantitative or mixed-methods research.
