When I'm inspired by God, what can I say?
I am always praying for and sending blessings to people. Many times I even sign my email with the word "blessings." Today as I was on Twitter sharing with my new online friends, I was inspired to really examine what being a blessing really means. Of course, you already know that I am very keep on looking up words... so here is the definition of blessing according to Encarta's English Dictionary:
God's help: help believed to come from God or another deity.
Religious act: a ceremony in which an ordained person invokes or claims to bestow divine help.
Approval: approval or good wishes.
Something fortunate: something to be glad or relieved about.
To be a blessing means to be all of these things to people that you encounter on a daily basis. Oh how fortunate we are to be able to be a blessing to people -- remember that.
As I gave it more thought, I wrote an acrostic for B.L.E.S.S.I.N.G. that I think is the perfect example of this. Here is what it means to truly be a blessing...
Believe in God
Listen to His voice
Experience His presence
Share His love
Seek His face
Inspire His people
Never doubt
Go and be a blessing
Until I'm inspired again... be a B.L.E.S.S.I.N.G.!
