Coaching Tips: Lessons from President-Elect Barack Obama (17 hits)

Hello, ladies -

For over a week now I've been working on an upcoming tele-training entitled 10 Characteristics of a Successful Business Woman. I am so very excited about that message for many different reasons. One thing I must say, it has challenged me to examine my own life and make some adjustments before I present that training to you.

Over the past 21 months or so, I've been observing the Race to the White House. What an amazing journey it has been. Last night, we watched history in the making with our country electing Senator Barack Obama as our new leader. As I watched him give his acceptance speech and began to share with family and friends on my thought, three words from my observations were evident -- character, integrity, and confidence. These three values seem to ooze from President-Elect Barack Obama's pores. (Did you notice it?)

As we are always looking for ways to improve our lives and move towards success each day, these are three values we must adopt in order to experience success on all levels. Let's examine each one...

Character defined -- distinctive qualities: the set of qualities that make somebody or something distinctive, especially somebody's qualities of mind and feeling; positive qualities: qualities that make somebody or something interesting or attractive; reputation: somebody's public reputation.

Questions: What distinctive or positive qualities do you possess? What is your reputation amongst your family, friends, co-workers, social circle, church members?

President-Elect Barack Obama possesses kindness, strength, love, family values, a willingness to stand for what he believe in and much more.

Integrity defined -- possession of firm principles: the quality of possessing and steadfastly adhering to high moral principles or professional standards.

Questions: Who are you when no one else is looking? Do you clock in and out when you are supposed to? Do you tell the truth on your taxes?

I'm positive that if President-Elect Barack Obama had cheated on his taxes, we all would have known about it. Your integrity follows you everywhere you go. No matter what.

Confidence defined -- belief in own abilities: self assurance or a belief in your ability to succeed.

Questions: Do you believe in yourself? Do you have faith in your abilities?

President-Elect Barack Obama never backed down from a challenge. Why? Because he has confidence in himself, in his abilities and in the country he loves.

Read this statement -- without character and integrity, there is no confidence.

Think about this message today. Answer the questions. Learn and grow everyday. Be willing to embrace change for yourself and for those around you.

Until I'm inspired again... :o) Be blessed!
