As we come to the close of this year and the beginning of 2009, many are anxious and worried and unsure of the future. I, like others, don't know what the future holds but I know Who holds the future and I am convinced that my God is able to do all that His Word says that He has done and can do. God is a Miracle Worker.
The very first time that I saw a miracle and recognized that indeed God had performed a miracle in my life was when I was 10 years old.
It was 1972 and my mother and I had left the house and left my father, my 7 year-old brother and my 1 year old sister at home. When we returned, my sister seemed extra drowsy to my mother and because "something just didn't seem right," , my mother searched further and found a number of pills in her little pockets.
My brother liked pill bottles and had found the pills in some bottles and just dumped the pills out where the baby could get them. As my father slept, unaware of the tragedy unfolding upstairs, my sister ingested those pills while upstairs with my brother and came downstairs and laid next to Daddy and when he woke up, he never knew she had moved from the spot where he laid her before their nap.
At the hospital, the prognosis was grim. The doctors didn't think the baby would make it or would be brain damaged from that point onward. As an adult now, I realize how that news must have crushed my parents at that moment and I still remember my mother crying in despair.
But God...
Doctors were able to save my sister and she did not have brain damage and today she is a young woman with strength, wisdom and a 15 year old daughter of her own.
God is a Miracle Worker and I can tell you of miracle after miracle that the Lord has accomplished in my life, in my parents' life and the lives of my siblings and I am persuaded to believe that He is able to bring His people through a bad economy, wars and rumors of wars and the like.
