Trailblazers: Creating the Path for Others to Follow (11 hits)

Today's message is a very special one for me because God literally woke me up at 3:30 am one morning and caused me to study what it means to "blaze a trail for others to follow." Later in the New Year, I plan to do a Thursday Night Live! Tele-seminar on the topic: Trailblazer Mentality. So, this is a sneak preview to that training.

As always, we have to begin with defining the term trailblazer:

Encarta's English Dictionary

Trailblazer (n)

pioneer: a pioneer or innovator.
creator of route: somebody who makes a new path through a wilderness.
The latter definition is the one we will go with for the sake of this message... "creator of route: somebody who makes a new path through a wilderness."

A path indicates a place where others have tread before. In other words, a path is created by someone new. Today, I want to ask you what type of trails are you blazing for others? In other words, what types of paths are you created for others to follow?

Just like last week's Monday Matters we learned that we either infect people or effect them. So it is with today's message... you will either lead people in the right direction or in the wrong one depending on the decisions you make.

While I was researching this message through the Bible, I noted some Scriptures on "path" -- I encourage you to look them up.

Positive Paths

Psalm 23:3
Proverbs 4:11
Negative Path

Proverbs 4:14-17
Parents... bosses... supervisors... peer leaders... entrepreneurs... What paths are you creating for those that follow you? Where are you leading them? A positive path will always lead people to righteousness. While a negative path lead to death.

Positive Trailblazers from Biblical Times

Noah
Joseph
Moses
David
Jesus
Paul (the perfect example of both)
Esther
This list could go on and on. As I thought about these positive trailblazers, I noted some common characteristics they all had in common:

They believe in God.
They yielded to God's purpose for their lives.
They focused on God's plan for their lives.
They walked in integrity.
They were not afraid of being different/set apart from the crowd.
They took action steps for change.

They walked by faith, not by sight.
