Will you believe the daily reports from CNN, Fox News, Local News and World News Tonight or will you believe the report of the Lord? The daily news reports from around the world tell a story of war, rumors of war, famine…economic recession, depression and despair.
If we focus on the world’s news long enough, we will become a part of that defeatist story. Fear will begin to set in, feelings of hopelessness creeps up on you and before you know it, what you fear will come upon you.
It is important that we guard our ear and eye gate. What we look at and listen to the most, will expand and get bigger. What we hear builds our belief system. In other words, your faith is developed from what you hear repeatedly. What you hear, have faith in and or what you believe the most, will ultimately determine what you do. Whose report will you believe… the worlds new or God’s Good News?
I do not deny that we are living in perilous times; however, as a child of God the peril does not have to affect you. You can dial 911 in this season of emergency. Psalm 91:1 says, “Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” (NLT)
No matter what you are going through right now, God is able to shelter you, protect you and provide for you. He will be your shield and your sustainer in the times of trouble.
“No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it.” (I Corinthians 10:13 NASB)
God is not surprised, stunned or caught off guard about the temptation (test, trial, tribulation) you are currently experiencing. God has a way of escape from life’s drama. Call on him to help you. He is your refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble…high cost and destruction (Psalms 46:1). He is always ready to help. The shortest, effective prayer one can utter is: “God help!!!”
You can find daily help by opening God’s instruction manual. The BIBLE (basic instructions before leaving earth) is God’s instruction manual. This manual has standard operating procedures for all of life’s struggles. Here you will find God’s Good News Report. God’s report says:
· You are miraculously provided for ( Genesis 22:1-7)
· You are loved tremendously (John 3:16)
· You are a winner (I Corinthians 15:57 & 1John 5:4)
· You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14)
· You have an awesome benefit package (Psalms 103:1-5)
· You are blessed (Deuteronomy 28:1-12)
· You can do all things (Philippians 4-13)
The almighty, all sufficient God does not have a shortage of resources. God is not in a recession. God is faithful…He can be counted on. Allow Him to be the source of your supply. Remember, God is on your side. He said He will never leave you or forsake you. Do not allow the world news to write your story. Instead, allow the Lord to step into your story. Begin to see yourself through the eyes of God’s report!
