Achieving Success the S.M.A.R.T. Way (30 hits)

Tomorrow we will officially come to the close of the first quarter of 2009. Have you completed any of the goals you set at the beginning of the year? If not, don't worry or stress over it. This week's PPT is all about "Achieving Success the S.M.A.R.T. Way"!

Last week's PPT was all about teaching you to set aside 60 minutes a day to achieve success. This week, I wanted to expound on that and help you set S.M.A.R.T. goals so that you can fully maximize your 60 minutes to success regimen.

First, let's define what a goal really is...

Quite simply a goal is an aim: something that somebody wants to achieve.

A goal is a derivative of your vision. Once you have a clear understanding of your vision, you can now extract goals that will allow your vision to come to fruition.

Let's explore the S.M.A.R.T. action steps you must take for effective goal manifesting.

1) Have a clear understanding of your vision. I suggest that you write you vision in detail.

2) Once you get a clear description of your vision, you can then extract S.M.A.R.T. goals that will help you bring your vision to full manifestation.

So now you may be asking, "What are S.M.A.R.T. goals?" S.M.A.R.T. goals are goals that are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic & Timely.

Specific Goals:
What are specific tasks you can do as it relates to your vision? Answer questions like, "What do I want to do? How will I get it done? Where do I want to do it? Who will help me? When will I have it done?"

Measurable Goals:
You should be able to look over your goals and measure your success. Each goal that you set should be progressive and get you to the next level of success manifesting. If your goals are not progressing, you are just spinning your wheels. Think: How can I progressively make my vision a reality? Measurable goals will keep you focused.

Attainable Goals:
Make sure that whatever goals set, you will be able to attain them. Often people get overwhelmed by setting goals too high. The Bible teaches us not to despise small beginnings. It is perfectly okay to set a small goal and work your way up to the bigger ones. However, remember when setting attainable goals you should still stretch yourself beyond your comfort zone without overdoing it.

Realistic Goals:
Set goals you know are realistic for you to achieve. If you vision is to write a book, it's nearly impossible (except God anoints you yo do so) to write a book in a day. So, be realistic. Set a goal to spend time each day on either research, writing, or both.

Timely Goals:
Timely goals answers the, "When will I have it all done" question. All goals should have a completion date to them. It they don't then it's just wishful thinking instead. Setting timely goals puts the necessary pressure on you to make sure to have your goals accomplished and are able to freely move on to the next task/goal.
