Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. (Psalm 34:5, NIV)
As Christian women, we are mindful to be sure that our husbands, children and pastors shine. We strive to follow Christ's example and lay down our lives for the good of others. This is good, even holy, but what happens when God chooses to shine the light on us?
Moses returned from the mountain top with a radiant glow but when the glow started to fade, he was ashamed to show his face. Regardless of our titles, we are all ambassadors of Christ and ministers of reconciliation. Sometimes though, we get caught up in who is in the spotlight.
"Now she aught to be shamed...I remember her from back in the day. Trying to act all holy now."
"Is that all she's got? Well, I could do it better than that."
"Is that gum in her mouth? Umph. And look at those shoes..."
Well, sistahs, we've got to stop. God's table is big enough for all of us to sit down. We are all destined to shine in different ways if we are willing to unmask our shame, link arms with our sistahs and fix our eyes on Christ.
So shine on, Sistah!
Father God,
We thank you that we don't have to hide under masks of shame. Help us to lay down the burdens of the past, address the issues in present and trust You for any challenges in the future. Help us walk in true humility even if it means that sometimes we are thrust into the spotlight and to be just as gracious when that spotlight is on another sistah. We thank you for the best makeup ever made--Your forever radiance.
In Jesus' Name, Amen
