Removing Self-Doubt II (100 hits)

The truth of the matter is, women from all over the world are paralyzed in many areas of their lives because they doubt themselves. In fact, many of these women sabotage their own lives and throw away valuable relationships and opportunities simply because they don't feel "worthy" to receive the benefits attached to their blessing. In today's Monday Matters, we will explore five keys to removing self-doubt.

Let's begin by defining the key word here, doubt: think something unlikely: to feel unconvinced or uncertain about something, or think that something is unlikely; not trust somebody or something: to suspect that somebody is not sincere or trustworthy, or that something is not true, likely, or genuine - uncertainty, reservation, misgiving, distrust, disbelief, or skepticism.

Self-doubt is rooted in fear - fear of failing. You must remember 2 Timothy 1:7, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and of a sound mind." Know this, FEAR IS NOT OF GOD, so stop living in fear. With God you cannot fail!

Questions to ponder:

Who told you that you are not good enough?
Who told you that you don't have the ability?
Where did your self-doubt originate?
Who put that fear inside of you?

How to overcome self-doubt:

1. Decide that you will no longer doubt yourself.

Deuteronomy 30:19, "I call heaven and earth to witness this day against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses; therefore choose life, that you and your descendants may live."

God in His infinite wisdom has given us the gift of choice. In order to master or overcome anything in life, you must decide that you will do it. Decide today that you will do longer doubt yourself.

2. Change your thoughts.

Proverbs 23:7, "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he."

You are what and who you think you are. If you're always thinking of yourself as a failure, then guess what? You're a failure. If you're always thinking of yourself as unattractive, then you're unattractive. Yet, the opposite if that is true as well. If you think you're smart, then you're smart... and so on! You must change your thought patterns and think positive thoughts about yourself.

3. Change your words.

Proverbs 18:21, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life]."

When other people say negative things about us, we automatically defend ourselves against those words. However, when we say negative things about ourselves, our defense is not automatic. So those negative words we speak to ourselves goes directly into our spirits awaiting their time of manifestation. You must say positive things about yourself.

4. Change your surroundings.

If you are surrounded by people who are always negative, you will become acclimated to negative people and it will not bother you. If you are always surrounded by lack, poverty, people with low self-worth, or always crying broke, busted and disgusted – you will become acclimated to that negativity.

Negative environments will literally kill your spirit if you are not too careful. You must break free from the negativity of people and the things around you. Remember this, you deserve to be celebrated. So surround yourself with things and people who celebrate you!

5. Believe in yourself.

You have to trust the decisions that you make. Never second guess yourself. Self-doubters are underachievers. You cannot accomplish your fullest potential or your maximize success if you doubt yourself. (See last week's Monday Matters)

Don't ever second-guess yourself! 1 Corinthians 2:16, "We have the mind of Christ!" You are capable of making sound decisions. You must have faith in your abilities.
