Wives, Are You Dressed for Success? (451 hits)

When a woman becomes a Christian, she not only inherits God's blessings, she also inherits His enemy - Satan. And when we took on the roles of wives and/or mothers, most of us unknowingly enlisted in an elite sector of the Army of the Lord. You might not realize it but, you are in the spiritual battle of your life! There is an incessant, relentless war going on in your household. Satan has weapons of mass destruction aimed straight for your heart - your husband and your children. Your assignment is to act as a centurian, on-call and on the wall 24/7! But of course you can't win any victories unless you're properly equipped.

We've been given the whole armor of God "to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Eph. 6:11). Each piece of the armor is to be "put on" to help us overcome the temptations and attacks of the Evil One.

1) Gird Your Waist with Truth: The waist or abdomen area was generally thought to be the seat of emotions. To gird this area with truth is to commit your emotions to believe this truth. Often a woman knowingly allows herself to believe a lie because of fear or self-pity. Wise Wives must commit to the truth regardless of the repercussions she perceives. (John 8:32, 36)

2) Put On the Breastplate of Righteousness: The breast is generally thought of as the place of the soul. The heart must be kept pure and righteous because sin gives a foothold to the enemy. Confession, repentence and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanse the heart.

3) Shod Your Feet With the Preparation of the Gospel of Peace: Proper shoes enable the feet to go from place to place. A Wise Wife is to go about our Father's business, which is to spread the gospel of peace and reconciliation - first in her own home and then out into the world community, as the Lord leads her. An undaunted sense of this mission keeps her headed in the right direction (Matt. 28:19,20)

4) Take the Shield of Faith: The Wicked One is the "accuser of our brethren" (Rev. 12:10) and will send his fiery darts to instill doubt, fear, and guilt. Faith acts as an invisible sheild that deflects such false accusations. (Heb. 11:6)

5) Take the Helmet of Salvation: A helmet protects the head, that is, the brain and our thoughts. Assurance of salvation is a mighty defense against doubt, insecurity and the kinds of works bred by them (1 John 5:11-13)

6) Take the Sword of the Spirit: The Word of God, the only offesive weapon in this armor, was used by the Lord Jesus against Satan (Lk. 4:1-13). The living Word is powerful, effective, and instructive. (Heb. 4:12, 2 Tim. 3:16, 17)

7) Praying Always: Prayer opens the channels between us and God. In the midst of battle, as Wise Wives, we must keep in constant communication with our Leader for directions and encouragement. our prayers for one another are important and effectual. (James 5:16)

Victory is guaranteed when a wise wife is donned in this holy war ensemble!
